Job Title

Mantrac Ghana Limited is hiring an AFA Specialist (Applied Failure Analysis).

Job Responsibilities

  • Intervene at customers' sites on site (CRC, Workshop, mine site) to carry out AFAs.
  • Apply and know the 8 steps of the AFA process.
  • Collect facts and data related to failures.
  • Analyze and think logically using the facts and data collected.
  • Create a detailed report that logically highlights the facts that led to the failure.
  • Use CAT technical resources as a primary source of information (service documentation, product updates, troubleshooting guidance).
  • Use the dealer technical network to communicate with CAT product analysts/engineers by submitting technical requests (service request tickets) to support investigations and validate conclusions.
  • Ensure the training and development of the technical agents concerned by the AFA.
  • Report near-misses and accidents related to the works.
  • Respect and ensure compliance with the rules of contamination control.
  • To respect and ensure compliance with environmental protection rules.
  • Apply and enforce the scheduling rules for put-away (5S).
  • Escalate information to his hierarchy.
  • Ensure the management, good condition and good maintenance of work tools,
  • handling tools and infrastructures in your department, and their adequacy with the needs of the business.

Qualification, Competence & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in mathematical sciences, properties of materials, and metallurgy.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as an on-field technician, including at least 5 years in component rebuild environments.
  • Formal training in AFA at recognised training centres (e.g., Peoria (USA) or Málaga (Spain), or equivalent recognised programme).
  • Contamination control training and (where required) qualification to perform contamination control audits.
  • Proficiency with service information systems and relevant diagnostic/technical software tools.
  • Strong documentation and recordkeeping capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
