Contract Manager – Africa

Job Description

Our client, a leading international operator delivering mining, industrial and infrastructure projects across Africa, is seeking an experienced Contract Manager – Africa to join their team. This is a senior role responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle across complex, multi-country projects. The position requires a strong commercial professional with proven expertise in EPC/EPCM contracts, FIDIC frameworks, claims management, and contractual risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full contractual lifecycle of mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects across Africa.
• Draft, negotiate, and administer major contracts (EPC, EPCM, O&M, services, etc.)
• Identify, analyse, and manage contractual, commercial, and financial risks.
• Develop, implement, and monitor claims, variations, and dispute strategies.
• Ensure contractual compliance with local and international legal requirements.
• Support project teams with schedule, cost, payment, and penalty management.
• Lead contractual relationships with partners, suppliers, subcontractors, and authorities.
• Prepare and deliver contractual reports for senior management.
• Contribute to the development and upskilling of local teams in contract management best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum Master’s Degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy, Business Law, Project Management
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in contract management on large-scale projects
• Strong experience in complex, multi-country project environments
• Proven expertise in FIDIC, PMBOK, and EPC / EPCM / PPP / PPA / BOOT contracts
• Advanced skills in negotiation, risk management, claims, and dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration, litigation).
• Fluent in both French and English (oral and written) is mandatory.
