General Assistant

We are looking for a hardworking, energetic, and customer-focused General Assistant to join our Business & Industry (B&I) catering team. The successful candidate will support food preparation, serving, cleaning, and general kitchen operations to ensure a high standard of service is delivered to clients and employees. This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and excellent customer service. Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and meal service.
• Serve food and beverages in accordance with company standards.
• Ensure dining and service areas are clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Wash dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock following FIFO principles.
• Replenish food, beverages, and service items during operating hours.
• Adhere to food safety, health, and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Support catering functions, meetings, and special events when required.
• Assist with waste management and recycling procedures.
• Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management.

Skills and Competencies

• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work under pressure.
• Flexibility to work shifts as required by the operation.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, restaurant, or corporate dining environment will be advantageous.
